World Conference 2025 Sydney!

Last month, the team from Backbone Business Networks (BBN) attended the UniFi World Conference Sydney 2025 on 8 October at ICC Sydney. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the latest networking and audio-technology innovations — and to see how they align with the needs of the NDIS-accommodation sector we specialise in.

Discovering the New Gear

At the conference we were impressed by how the ecosystem is expanding beyond traditional WiFi and networking gear. In particular:

  • The newest access-points, switches and unified management tools unveiled by UniFi offered improved performance, modern features and simplified deployments.

  • A standout for us: PoE-powered PA and audio systems that can integrate into the same network fabric. With Power-over-Ethernet and unified management, audio systems now join the network-infrastructure domain rather than being separate silos.

  • Seeing these systems in action reinforced our belief that converged network + audio + access is the future — especially in environments where reliability, simplicity and compliance matter.

Why This is Ideal for NDIS Accommodation

Because we focus on the supported accommodation / NDIS space (via providers such as Supported Accommodation Providers Association — SAPA), we recognised several key benefits:

  • Reduced infrastructure complexity: PoE means fewer cables, fewer power outlets and less disruption during deployment and maintenance. Ideal for sites with multiple rooms, buildings or retrofit scenarios.

  • Unified control & monitoring: When access-points, guest/staff segmentation, and audio paging/alerts are all managed via the same network platform, operational overhead is lower and responsiveness is higher.

  • Enhanced occupant experience + safety: Whether it’s WiFi coverage for residents, staff access networks, or audio paging for emergency or general announcements — having everything converged enables smarter site-wide communications.

  • Scalable & future-ready: With increasing demands (resident devices, IoT, building systems) the new UniFi gear gives us the head-room and management depth we need for today and tomorrow in the NDIS accommodation sector.

What We’re Bringing Back to You

From the event, here are the key product-trends and services we’ll be rolling into our offering:

  • New UniFi access-points designed for high-density, multi-room/residential-type deployments — perfect for shared accommodation sites.

  • PoE-driven PA/audio systems that integrate directly into the network infrastructure — enabling announcements, resident communications and alerts without separate cabling or silos.

  • Advanced segmentation tools: guest/staff/resident network separation, analytics, monitoring and access management — matching the compliance and security needs of NDIS-related providers.

  • A streamlined vendor stack: By leveraging UniFi for switches, access-points, audio systems, and its management ecosystem, we can offer more consolidated procurement, support and lifecycle management for our clients.

Looking Ahead

Our attendance at the UniFi World Conference Sydney 2025 reaffirmed how BBN is poised to deliver not merely WiFi installations, but fully integrated network and communications ecosystems for supported accommodation providers. If you’re looking for a solution that covers access, paging, announcements, audio and network infrastructure — all under one unified platform — we’d love to talk to you.

Let’s connect and explore how we can tailor these new network-/audio-solutions for your site.
